Employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) begin an indefinite strike from midnight of Monday to press for their demand of salary hike . Employees are demanding for implementation of 7th Pay commission and salary hike of 30%. Government had agreed upon hike of 10% but employees are not ready to take back the strike.

The workers of MSRTC have asserted that they won’t call off their strike until their demands were met. More than 17 thousand buses run throughout the entire state, where about one lakh workers have gone on strike.

Police has increased security to prevent any untoward incident during the strike. The strike, however, has left the passenger a harried lot. People have been stranded on buses and roads for more than three hours, since the strike began.

“The bus suddenly stopped and we had to wait for hours, after which we were told that whoever has bought a ticket, can take back their money,” said a passenger.

Although the buses have not moved an inch, the passengers are sitting in hope that the strike will end and they may be able to reach their respective destinations.

Citizens are facing problems during the Holiday period where away from home this is the only time people travel to meet their loves once. In such case, people are only left with the option to opt for Private Buses whose Fare is 4-5 times more during the Diwali Festival. Passengers are left with no other option but to wait and pray for the hike to end.

MSRTC Employees should understand the passengers who are in trouble right now because of their strike are the same people from whom they get their salary. MSRTC Employees have put the passengers and their family in trouble who are responsible for jobs in MSRTC. Employees have all the rights to have their salary hike demands, but definitely not by troubling passengers that too in a Diwali Festive Season.

Certainly, it shows the selfish behaviour of the government employees!!
